Course Description
Cisco IP Telephony 3.1 (CIPT) is an instructor-led course with hands-on lab exercises. This course focuses on Cisco CallManager 3.1 and is designed to ensure students are able to
install, support and maintain a CIPT solution. Cisco CallManager administration and configuration will be discussed, as well as gateway (H.323 and MGCP) administration and configuration.
Students will have the opportunity to install and configure a Cisco IP Telephony solution and will work with a team to design and build a supported CIPT deployment model.
Prerequisites
Before taking this course, attendees are expected to have a basic knowledge of data networking, which can be gained from completing the CCNA Basics or ITM CD-ROMs. Prior
exposure to Ethernet, IP systems, subnet masking, TFTP, frame relay, Windows 2000 and Microsoft Windows NT is also expected. While not formal prerequisites, formal study of
Windows NT Server Administration, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification, Telephony and IP basic concepts, Building VoIP networks – gained from the Cisco Voice
over Frame Relay, ATM and IP (CVOICE) course, and Cisco Voice Essentials are recommended.
Objectives Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Identify and describe the CIPT architecture, hardware and software when given the components of a CIPT solution
- Install one of the three recommended CIPT deployment models when given the hardware and software of a CIPT network solution
- Access the online administration guide to configure CIPT components within Cisco CallManager administration when given a Cisco CallManager server
- Enable and use the tools in the Cisco CallManager server to troubleshoot the CIPT deployment solutions when given an installed Cisco CallManager server
