Course Description
This course familiarizes the student with the concepts and commands required to configure Cisco routers. Discussions include Novell IPX, NetBIOS, LAN Network Manager, and several wide-area network topics such as Frame Relay, X.25, and ISDN. Throughout the course, lectures are reinforced with extensive hands-on labs to emphasize Cisco implementation of SNA in a multiprotocol environment.

Prerequisites

  • Knowledge of basic networking concepts, terminology, standards, and network components
  • Completion of the ICRC course or equivalent knowledge and work experience are suggested
  • Be familiar with IP addressing, subnet masking, and routing protocols such as IGRP, RIP, or OSPF

Objectives

  • Explain the difference between RSRB and DLSW+ as well as where to implement them in the network
  • Understand how/where to configure the various bridging techniques such as Transparent, Source Route, and Translational bridging
  • Configure and implement SNA in a multiprotocol environment using various features of the Cisco IOS
  • Properly configure STUN/BSTUN for SDLC line concentration
  • Prioritize and provide COS for SNA traffic across a multiprotocol network

Who Should Attend
The SNAM course is written for individuals who are already familiar with TCP/IP, have no SNA background, and are responsible for implementing and maintaining SNA networks using Cisco routers.
